The book fair is open this week during lunch and after school. Its a perfect time to pick up some books for Spring Break!

student led conferencesWednesday and Thursday afternoons are reserved for student led conferences with your student's TEAM teacher. Your student will present evidence of learning from each class and will discuss achievements. 


Report cards will be mailed home on Friday.

Grade 8 yearbook ads

Friday, January 29 is the final day to create and purchase 8th grade ads in the yearbook. Parents, recognize your student in the yearbook by creating an 8th grade ad. Include memorable photos and sentiments to acknowledge accomplishments and wish them well as they move on to high school. Ads are created and purchased online. Details are in this flier

Interested in becoming a volunteer at Excelsior? The district requires a clear TB test and LiveScan prior to working with or transporting students. For your convenience, fingerprinting will be available at the District Office Monday, July 27 3-6pm.

Congratulations to Savannah whose blog is a finalist in the 11th annual Edublog Awards Best Student Blog category. Over 250 blogs were nominated for this international award, including several from the EMS web design class.  Our technology students are also to be congratulated for having their class blog, Falcons Tech, named a finalist from over 500 nominations in the Best Class Blog category.  Excelsior is proud that our students are receiving international recognition for their endeavors.

Motivational Speaker


 Kevin Laue, inspiration for the movie, "Long Shot: The Kevin Laue Story" shared his story and message at an assembly here at Excelsior.  A graduate of Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton and division 1 basketball player, he created success regardless of his physical limitation.  Kevin has been featured by ESPN and The New York Times.  We proudly welcome Kevin to Excelsior.

The library will be open at 7:30am and there will be a scheduled class time to return books throughout the day. Outstanding text books will result in end of the year activities being suspended. Yearbooks will be held until the account is clear. Bills will be sent home for textbooks not returned.

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. For more than 25 years, millions of children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest. Globally, there will be 360,000 entries.  Let’s wish our 1st place winner, 8th grader,Anya, good luck as her poster design will move on to the next leg of the competition!Thank you to the Byron Delta Lion’s Club for providing this opportunity for our 6th, 7th and 8th graders here at EMS.

School House RockEMS and VPAC proudly present School House Rock! Audition packets are available at registration in the theater and on the first day of school in room 214. Audition packets are due July 29, the second day of school, to room 214. Auditions will be held July 30 and 31 from 3-6pm in the theater.

Parents and students attend together to pick up class schedules, join PTSA, get PE clothes, order yearbooks, buy ASB stickers, have school pictures taken, receive ID cards and pick up the extra set of textbooks to keep at home. Campus tours are available for 6th graders and new students. Spirit wear and snacks will be available for purchase.

atlantisMay 8 is the date for our 4th quarter Renaissance Rally celebrating academic excellence at Excelsior.

Cinderella Encore Performance

CinderellaMonday, May 4 at 4pm in the Excelsior theater, an encore performance of Cinderella will be held in support of the Almgren family. Tickets are free at the door. Donations are kindly accepted for the Almgren family to help them as they move on to a new phase in their lives. Join us as we come together as a school to support  our Excelsior family.
